I haven't encountered writers block, there's just too much to write about. What I have encountered is direction a plot will take. To get though that: 1.) Review what I've just written in the story. 2.) discuss the plot/characters/intentions with others - spouse, friends, writers/reading group, technical advisers/sources, editor.

It's not money. I think it's a sense of personal accomplishment. For me, I find it a challenge while it being a refuge from the contention of daily life issues. I can step away and get immersed in a project, find enjoyment in crafting a fast paced plot, interesting characters, then finding a twist in a plot that the reader may not anticipate.

Having the desire is a start, but not enough. There are plenty of semi-acedemic writing courses available through college and universities. Take one. In many cities there are writer's associations and writing groups. Join one. These will give you the foundation upon which you can learn to craft a story. Then write. If you are interested in the commercial market, be prepared to be disappointed at every turn of the page. Just walk into a book store and envision the capability of your stuff competing with the stuff on the shelves.
The option is to go independent, and that is even a huge up-hill battle that I'm just beginning to recognize as a daunting task. However, I have good stuff.

Murder In The Marble Orchard has just been submitted for internal design and printing. I hope to have the cover done and the book out before the end of August. I'm Currently working on the third Harding Knox sequel. It involves a grizzly missing persons case, and high seas abduction in the Gulf of Mexico, It begins in Minneapolis, migrates to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and I don't know yet where or how it's going to end - part off the fun of writing. Sometimes your own story is a mystery.

The inspiration to write is an internal thing with me. After 30 years in police work, and running a small business, it is something I always had an interest and an aptitude to do. Now retired, it is has become a compelling aspect of my life. Part for my inspiration comes from the fact that I like to write, and I like a good story. It also comes from my past career and associations, it can come from a phrase I've heard, or a news story, and how I can conjure that into a good story.

As a Sergeant supervising a squad of detectives for many years, most of my writing is loosely based on characters, cases, and situation I had encountered over the years. I have two Harding Knox sequels in the works. Murder In The Marble Orchard I hope to have released through CreatSpace in August, 1017.
