Hogwarts of course and I would teach Muggle studies and shush everyone in the library and of course be one of the most powerful witches to have ever lived.

Aching feet and weary bones carried her slowly, painfully toward the sallow hum by her sheer force of will. Light flooded her as she wrenched the door ajar, yet the chocolate drawer was empty.

It depends which phase I am in. Initially, a story idea forms, I fiddle with it in my head and if I'm excited by it, I type like a bull at a gate. I enjoy the process of forming a story, each new element is exciting. Time is my biggest foe. After a long day/week, it can be hard to build the motivation and stimulation to write effectively and succinctly. I spend the next session deleting odd and obviously delirium-induced sentences.

Read. Read. Read. Know what genre you enjoy reading, because you will enjoy writing it too. Broaden your vocabulary. Form a network of readers you trust to look at your work and provide honest feedback. And listen to that feedback, consider it, implement it if you agree, ignore it if you don't. But always listen.

Two things. Firstly, I go to sleep, because generally block hits me after too many hours at the keys. My dreams are often infiltrated by my characters, and my subconscious has been know to solve their complicated riddles. If I still wake up struggling against the writer's wall, I start a new story. I explore new characters and outline new books. I have lots of WIPs created that way. A little time away from the problem in a novel often allows my brain to process the issues, unclogs the pipes, so that when I come back to it the story flows again.

Enjoyment. I enjoy exploring characters, creating worlds, having conversations in my head and then sharing them with readers. Connecting with a reader, someone who loves or hates my characters/world/story and has contacted me to tell me - nicely - is awesome.

I'm currently adding the finishing touches to the second book in the Aquila series. There's also a new stand alone novel, as of yet untitled.
