Samuel Muggington Got the news my Dad died over the phone from my little brother and I staggered out the front door to get some fresh air. While walking around the house, a giant woodpecker, red and yellow, perched on a low tree limb right next to the house. I froze. The bird stared right through me and didn't move. I don't know why, but I knew it was him.
Samuel Muggington Midnight, November 3, 2020, the news anchor's shoulders shook as she sobbed. "No, no, it can't be, not again."
Samuel Muggington I would travel back in time to the Pliocene Epoch and visit "The Many Colored World" that was created by the author Julian May. I would drink in the sights, all of the exotic plants and animals, while trying to survive and join up with other exiled humans.
Samuel Muggington Right now, I am immersed in gardening and chicken-related books. I dip into the following two books frequently:

Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens by Gail Damerow
The Garden Primer by Barbara Damrosch

Once the baby chickens are out of the brooder and into the coop, and the garden is planted, I will pick out my books for the summer.
Samuel Muggington I love this question.

If you asked me for couples from television shows it would be easy to answer. There are so many entertaining couples, e.g. Ralph and Alice Kramden from the Honeymooners, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, Frank Burns and Hotlips Houlihan from M.A.S.H., etc. I enjoy farce that explores the relationships between couples. Television sitcoms provide plenty of that.

The following two couples immediately came to mind when I first read your question:

Frank and April Wheeler from Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates
Dick and Nicole Diver from Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Why are they my favorite couples?

Their stories are heartbreaking. After I finished the books, I wondered what happened to the main characters, and I wished them well. I don't think I will ever forget them. They are now a part of me.
Samuel Muggington Yes, I am almost finished with the first draft of Volume 2 of Pomroy's World.
Samuel Muggington I find that music is a great help when writing.

You can hear some of the music that I listed to while writing Pomroy's world at the Spotify playlist link below.

The live version of "Sleep" by the Dandy Warhols makes me feel like I am actually on the dark world with Pomroy.

You can also check out Muggington's Music Playlist. It is still a work in progress.

Samuel Muggington Sometimes I listen to music while I write. For example, while I was writing Pomroy's World I used Spotify to go through almost every song by the Dandy Warhols. Their song entitled "Sleep" used to put me into a writing trance.

A cup of tea or a mug of strong coffee also helps me to get started. I do need to have the television off and it helps to be alone. My favorite spot to write allows me to look out at our beautiful park.

Once I get into writing mode the ideas just come. I also get some good ideas in the shower when I have a thorny problem with a plot.
Samuel Muggington I don't have this problem. Instead my writer's burden is that I am easily distracted by almost anything. In addition I love being outdoors.
Samuel Muggington I love to tell tall tales. It is like weaving a colorful rug or splashing paint onto a canvas with abandon.
Samuel Muggington Show up. Don't let distractions stop you from doing what you love.
Samuel Muggington I am working on a different type of novel, one about a man who loses his job and goes on a wild quest.

update: I am working on volume 3 of the Pomroy's World series. In addition, I am getting ready to start a novel in which one of the main characters is a tardigrade.
Samuel Muggington Every day I see teenagers racing down my street on skateboards. I worry constantly that one will get hit by a vehicle. That was the beginning of Pomroy's World.
