Thank you for the question, and your answer I cannot give as a definite distance or time. When an idea manifests itself in my head, it either finds a way to the page quickly with words flowing like a torrent, or it needs time to ferment and cultivate before given a home. For the most part though, I am lucky in that the distance is neither too long nor too slow.

It started as a writing prompt and a simple scene. From there it grew and formulated into a story in its own right. Much in the same way my first book did too.

It doesn't take much for my mind to wander working in an office and looking at two screens all day. Combine that with an 11 year old daughter and 4 year old son, then writing becomes an easy escape, be it my current projects, or just the scribbling of bedtime stories. Point of fact, the YA novels I'm working on started life as my daughter's bedtime reads.

The progession of my 'chick-lit' novels, as they seem to be well recieved to date. Also a couple of YA vampire(ish) books and a post-apocalyptic zombie/survival novel for those wanting guns, explosions and erm, zombies!
It is also hoped that eventually I can collate all my pieces of flash fiction and publish them rather than post them all over facebook.......

Apart from the fame, fortune and legions of adoring fans? No seriously, it allows a certain expression of feelings and emotions that you may not neccessarily be able to display in normal life. You can live out fantasies and dreams through characters you create, in what can otherwise 'safe' life.

I turn my attention to writing flash fiction. Sometimes they may be scenarios that I could use in future works, but mainly they are just an explosive expression of my creative mind that is very much divorced from current works in progress.
