The last book I released was the Special Edition for "I Have No Book. I Am Too Small." A little boy at church was going to become a big brother for the first time, and I wished that I could give him a boy version of "I Have No Book. I Am Too Small." So I created a Special Edition for him.

I am going through the tedious exercise of fine-tuning a production process for square crayons. You see, first I created the cute books for children. Then I felt the need to create coloring books (to go along with the books, of course!). Now I am at the point where I feel the need to create matching crayons to go along with the coloring books! So I developed a lovely square crayon design that kids really like to play with! And I can embed cute labels on the tops so they will display my characters to match the books! It has been a long, but fun process figuring all of this out! :)

I remember taking a writing class in college. My professor loved my work and wanted to read it to the class just about every time we met. Although some people may have felt honored, I actually felt completely exposed and even violated. At the end of that semester I decided that I did not want to be a writer because it laid my soul bare to the world. I was too private of a person to do that! Twenty + years later, I finally grew out of that. What a waste of time! So my advice to an aspiring writer is this: be prepared to feel exposed, but do it anyhow.

As both illustrator and writer for children, the greatest joy is the sparkle in the little eyes when I read to the children, or when I sit down and draw with them.
