I love the creativity. I find that when I write, I'm drawn into the world that I create. No matter how rough the real world might be at times, writing gives me the creative outlet to escape all that.

Keep writing, no matter how much negative input you might get. People close to you might think that you're nuts trying to write a book, and writing can be a tough business to break into, but if you love your characters and have the drive, it is very rewarding. Also, write what you love. If you're into mysteries, write mysteries. Are you a romance fiend? Then, write romances. Don't force it because you think something might be profitable.

I have to admit, some days it is hard. I do love to sit in my office chair wrapped in a shawl on a rainy day and create scenes along a sunny beach or around a quiet lake. I'm kind of addicted to water scenery. I especially love to write in the evening on vacations at the beach with the sound of the surf in the background.

I have always been a fan of Agatha Christie. My main character, Ailene Burke, tends to be one step ahead of the police like Christie's Miss Marple. Ailene, however, tends to be a bit quirky. I have to admit, I sort of based her on my mother-in-law, a woman that I loved dearly.
