Angelé Wells Oh my goodness ... no great mystery in my life. However, my "day job" as a court transcriptionist was filled with intrigue. Never a dull moment was had then. Pity legal drama isn't my genre ;)
Angelé Wells When I'm stuck, I have to step away for a while. I listen to music, read someone else's work, spend time outdoors or chat to like-minded friends who can possibly offer advice or a different perspective. Sometimes, it's something as simple as re-reading what I've already done and I pick up a new thread, or maybe re-work something, for it to start flowing again. When all else fails, I shelve the project for a while and move on to something else. Eventually, a spark of inspiration will hit and I'll be off and running again.
Angelé Wells The feeling you get when someone tells you how much they enjoyed reading your book. To me, there are very few things that beat the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when someone says "Wow, what a great read" or "A good book, well written" or just a simple "I loved it". It's one of the things I live (and write) for.
Angelé Wells My advice would be to follow your heart. If you love to write and feel you have something to offer the world ... go for it. But do your homework. It's too easy for new and aspiring authors to get caught because they don't know any better. Join groups, network, ask questions of seasoned authors, get out there and let people get to know who you are. And above all, when you're ready to put your manuscript out there, make sure it's as polished as it can be.
Angelé Wells I'm currently working on an anthology with my friend, and fellow author, Phoenix Kelly. The whole idea is to see how two different authors approach a story from their different perspectives based on a single concept ... taking pleasure seriously. So, keep an eye out for our anthology in the not too distant future. :)
Angelé Wells Gosh, I draw inspiration from a multitude of places. Something I hear, see, read. People watching, song lyrics, an offhand comment. Just to name a few.
Angelé Wells Phoenix Kelly, a friend and fellow author, saw a picture quote on Facebook recently and it sparked an idea for her. She contacted me and asked if I would write a story built around her concept, for an anthology. We're really excited about this new project and hope to get it out onto cyber-shelves soon.
