My most recent book, The Church Peak Hotel: Revisited, is loosely based off of a short story I wrote when I first started writing. It's also the fourth book in a series I'm writing that takes place in a parallel, futuristic universe.
It isn't a novel per se. It's an interconnected series of character vignettes connected by common themes, settings, characters, and the fictional world in which they exist.
The framework of the novel is inspired by books like In Our Time.

I'm writing a coming of age novel set in the panhandle of West Virginia. The novel will be written in five parts. I finished the first part a few weeks ago which was inspired by Catcher in the Rye, in that, there is a unique, first-person narrative voice. To capture this voice, I researched local dialect and spent a lot of time talking to locals.
I'm now working on the second part which shifts away from the narrative voice of the protagonist to the objective voice of a third-person narrator. It's been a fun story to write.
