I'm at work on another novel, but don't want to say too much about it quite yet. It has some globe-trotting scientists, musicians and artists running around places like Kathmandu, Slovenia and Mexico over the span of 20 years or so. It's in the early stages - rough drafts of chapters, lots of research still to be done - but I'm already enjoying the characters a lot.

Usually I'm working on a larger piece, like a novel, so if I get stuck on a chapter, I'll skip ahead or back until I find a part of the story that I find easier to tackle or that better suits my mood.
The other option is to work on something unrelated, something I don't have any immediate plans for - some random observations, bits of dialogue, etc.
When all else fails I either read a book or go for a long walk. In fact, most of my writer's block tends to be an itch to get outdoors.
