Aaron Shepard has written award-winning short fiction and has been published in a number of Canadian literary journals, including The Fiddlehead and PRISM International.
His personal essay “Edge of the Herd” appears in the anthology Nobody’s Father: Life Without Kids. He is a graduate of the University of Victoria’s MFA in Creative Writing program, served on The Malahat Review’s fiction board, and currently works and writes in Victoria. When is a Man is his debut novel.

The other option is to work on something unrelated, something I don't have any immediate plans for - some random observations, bits of dialogue, etc.

When all else fails I either read a book or go for a long walk. In fact, most of my writer's block tends to be an itch to get outdoors.(less)

It has some globe-trotting scientists, musicians and artists running …moreI'm at work on another novel, but don't want to say too much about it quite yet. It has some globe-trotting scientists, musicians and artists running around places like Kathmandu, Slovenia and Mexico over the span of 20 years or so. It's in the early stages - rough drafts of chapters, lots of research still to be done - but I'm already enjoying the characters a lot.(less)
