My newest project is a Sci-Fi conspiracy thriller set several hundred years in the future. In this universe, humanity has colonized about twenty worlds and have become involved in a war with the only other known species in the galaxy, the Krall. The war has gone on for around 150 years but there are details about the war that have been hidden from humanity. A war veteran and homicide detective catches a murder case on one of the outlying colonies. The victim was his CO during his time and as he begins to dig into the case it leads to much bigger discoveries.

I have been a victim of the mindset of needing to be inspired to write so many times over the years. In fact, it's part of the reason why I haven't published more works than I have. If I wait for the muse to whisper in my ear and get my pen working I'll never accomplish anything as a writer.
One of the more difficult aspect of being an author is just sitting down and doing the work. You may not feel like it and it will often feel as painful as a root canal, but it's important to just do it. Even if you only bang out five words, it's still five more words than you would have done otherwise.
