Goodreads asked Matthew Moseman:

How do you get inspired to write?

Matthew Moseman I have been a victim of the mindset of needing to be inspired to write so many times over the years. In fact, it's part of the reason why I haven't published more works than I have. If I wait for the muse to whisper in my ear and get my pen working I'll never accomplish anything as a writer.

One of the more difficult aspect of being an author is just sitting down and doing the work. You may not feel like it and it will often feel as painful as a root canal, but it's important to just do it. Even if you only bang out five words, it's still five more words than you would have done otherwise.
