Huda Ayaz It all started when I realized I could do a weird thing with my eyes. I found I was able to look left to right, back and forth, so quickly that everything in front of me blurred... And yes I realize now that sounds a bit concerning but 11-year-old me thought it was the coolest thing in the world. When I realized things would blend together sometimes when I did this I thought: "What if this was a superpower? That by doing this weird looking back and forth super quickly thing, I could transform objects from one form to another?"
Now I know what you're thinking: "Huda you're such a loser. Her superpower could've been just normally transforming things you know, was it necessary to make her do all these random eye movements that your readers probably have a difficult time imagining?"
Yes. Yes, it was necessary. I wanted to pretend I had a superpower, okay?
Slowly I created characters, a world, involved Loch Ness monsters after a reading in a Coach workbook intrigued me, and created the world that would set the base for Angie Moon and the Legends: The Speedster.
Huda Ayaz I have a strange type of writer's block... I'll go for months loving to write, bursting with new ideas every other second, and never losing motivation. But then, it all disappears and for a month or two I feel uninspired or too lazy to put myself to work. The solution? I block every form of entertainment for 24 hours (use the SelfControl app for computers, it's great). You read correctly! It was terrifying the first time because I didn't know if I could survive, but trust me you will. All that extra free time leaves nothing but time to think. And if you don't come up with anything, at least you're forced to read if you've been neglecting reading for a while. Just by sitting down and exploring all the other works people have published can get your mind working. Writer's block is terrible to deal with but trust me, eventually, you'll get out of it and come up with something even better than before. The problem might even be that you want to work on something entirely different. Exploring writing that you've never ventured into before can seriously do wonders.
Huda Ayaz Right now, I'm working on the sequel (and conclusion) of the Angie Moon and the Legends series.
