Thanks for asking a question! It's certainly a struggle trying to get my books out there. It's hard to compete with the different big name publishing companies. But I would rather enjoy the art of writing and sell a few then to have a literary agent and publisher forcing me to be creative so they can sell thousands.
Regardless, I do have a strategy to sell more books in the future. As I heard from one author, sometimes the best way to help yourself is to help others. I own several websites and use them as a way to reach people surfing the web. One site I feature books from the Diverse Book Tour; by helping other authors I can hope that visitors to my blog will also find an interest in my books as well. I have a newsletter sign up where I give away one of my eBooks for free. I currently have eight so giving away one isn't such a problem for me.
Soon I hope to start a business to help low income and minority authors still achieve their goals to publish a good book by hiring editors and book cover designers for a low costs. This is my future plan, but by helping others it will get the word out about my company and books I've published as well.
My mom distributes books at every family reunion and to friends throughout her workplace. She's much more talkative then I am so word of mouth is her best strategy.
If you're an author I wish you much success as well.

My most recent book was My Amoretto and I received the idea for it from a short story I planned to write in college, but never got around to it. My mother's most recent work is the first novel she ever wrote about The Legend of the Black Rose. It was inspired by stories passed down along in our family.

It changes as I grow older. Elemental Angels, I started writing when I was 15 and finished in college. I was greatly inspired by anime and various fantasy novels and movies I enjoyed as a youth, but, many of which, I no longer would enjoy now. Now, I more inspired by life events and people that I've met such as my book My Amoretto which was inspired by people that I met in Italy. As I grow older, my books are slowly starting to come back to reality and venturing away from foreign worlds like my work Angelic Heroes Trilogy. I don't know if I'll ever write more fantasy perhaps graphic novels which is something that I want to explore because of my love of art, but we'll see.

The next book on my list in Roses and Incarnations which is a novel based on my mother's short story The Legend of the Black Rose a version of the story that's very different from the full length we're publishing under the same name.
After that, I plan to work on The Black Giselle, a story about a ballerina. I did ballet a long time ago and it will be exciting to relive what it means to be a dancer. This one will be magical realism which is a new genre for me to explore.

Write all you want and whatever your heart desires, but don't quit your day job! LOL But I mean that in the best way possible. Supporting yourself and your family off a writer's budget is challenging because platforms that sell books such as Amazon and even some traditional publishers are cutting back the amount that they give authors. So, in summary, aspire for greatest, but if you miss the mark at least you get to do what you enjoy and not feel depressed that you aren't earning a high income because you still have a sound job to support your family and enough to publish your books.

Being able to express myself in a creative way. There's no rules or limitations on writing. Writing is as vast as the human mind's imagination.
I enjoy writing fantasy fiction because it's hard for me to connect with reality sometimes. The daily news and current events fly me in rapid succession. So instead of having to live in the morbid reality we're in, I decided to take my imagination to far off worlds and fascinating characters and inventions that could never exist on earth.

I usually wait it out and hope that ideas will come to me. Sometimes when I take a break and take a long hot bath ideas just fly into my mind. For some reason it clears my head and my thoughts flow naturally and by the time I make it back to my desk, I have a ton of ideas to work on.
My mom on the other hand never gets writer's block. She uses stories that she's heard from others in her books. Her mind easily just runs without stopping. She just writes and writes and writes to no end.
