From everything around me. Sometimes it's a song, or a sentence I overhear. Dreams I have or a stray thought that wanders through my mind. On occasion it may be nothing more than a person I see or something that caught my eye as I drove past. Inspiration can come from anywhere, so long as you're paying attention (and have something handy to write the idea down on before it drifts away).

A paranormal romance with Greek gods, cowboys and angels. (Be sure to keep an eye out for an announcement on a release date!)
Once that one is complete, I will finish what I've begun on Det. Jack Mitchell's (The Hidden Truth) next case.

Keep writing, and whatever you do... Don't ever give up.
Always write for YOU first. I don't remember now whose biography I was reading, but she said she wasn't doing well because she was writing what she thought others wanted to read. When she stopped doing that, and started writing what moved her, it set her writing free.

I try to either power through or take a break. If I push through it and just write whatever comes to mind I can always go back and revise and/or edit whatever it took to get those creative juices flowing again. On occasion I have to delete it all because what came flowing out was complete nonsense. And sometimes it's nothing more than the characters have stopped talking, or I'm trying to take the story in a direction that's not true to the story the characters are sharing with me. In that case I take a break, do something else for a little while and then get back to the business of putting the story they tell me on paper instead of trying to direct it.

The wonderful opportunity to share my imagination, and having others enjoy it.
