Goodreads asked Heather Wardrup:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Heather Wardrup I try to either power through or take a break. If I push through it and just write whatever comes to mind I can always go back and revise and/or edit whatever it took to get those creative juices flowing again. On occasion I have to delete it all because what came flowing out was complete nonsense. And sometimes it's nothing more than the characters have stopped talking, or I'm trying to take the story in a direction that's not true to the story the characters are sharing with me. In that case I take a break, do something else for a little while and then get back to the business of putting the story they tell me on paper instead of trying to direct it.
