In the early 1980s one of my father's cargo ships was laid up in one of the beautiful estuaries of South Devon, England. It caused a lot of controversy at the time and was frequently in the local news, as were other events of a more sinister nature. This was all recorded in the ship's log, together with all the day-to-day maintenance, and forms the setting for the book.

Atmospheric settings are probably my greatest inspiration. I also read a lot of Greek mythology and practically every plot there has ever been occurs in it.

I go back over the plot of what I am writing, I review my characters and settings, and this seems to be enough to kick-start me again.
