I come from a seafaring background and, for as many generations back as can be traced, my ancestors, on both sides, were seamen and shipowners.

Although my ancestral home is a tiny island in the Mediterranean, I was born in 1951 in New York City and spent the first six years of my life on a working cargo ship with three generations of my family.

My parents moved to London when I was twelve and, having completed my education, I worked in shipping, managing my father’s ships. However, following his death in 1984, and prompted by the decline in trade due to the world recession, the business was wound up. My novels are about real-life events with elements of the supernatural, and are inspired by my rather unusual life experiences.

Apart from writing, I love travelling, walking, photography, cooking and reading, and I have a keen interest in mythology, particularly Greek, and legends.
