Hmmm... I don't know. Because honestly I don't know many public-schooled kids to compare myself with. But I do think my introvert-ness has made me more imaginative and creative.

My writing process has no rhyme or reason, I can't explain how it works most of the time. Sometimes book ideas come from a picture or even a single word. (Off topic, quirky is my favorite word)
Bu my most recent book, Timeless, was inspired by many things. I get my ideas from books, movies, and nature. Timeless in particular was inspired partly by Tangled, Frozen, K.M. Shea's fairy tale series, and the Ever Afters series.
Rapunzel has always been my favorite fairy tale princess. So it felt natural to me to write a book with her in it. By chance, she didn't end up being the main character. I'm still not entirely sure how Little Red Riding Hood became the MC.
But in the end, I am very pleased with how Timeless turned out.

I don't think there ever was a time where I was suddenly INSPIRED to write. I've just always written stories ever since I can remember. I went through so much paper until I finally got a laptop, which I named Saphira. My family has always encouraged my writing and supported me totally. I am very blessed to have them in my life.

I leave my project for the day and go do something inspiring to get my creativity flowing again. I sometimes watch a movie or spend some time in nature. I really enjoy being alone to just think out my books for hours on end.

Read LOTS of books about publishing! How To Publish E-Books for Dummies by Ali Luke is a GREAT guide for e-publishing. I would also recommend reading up on marketing books so you're prepared.
If you're going traditional, read books about approaching agents and publishing houses. But before you even approach an agent, you need to have your book mostly written, especially for new authors. Go to conferences and learn as much as you can.
Good luck!

I'm currently writing the second installment of my Timeless Chronicles series called Eye of the Queen. It's set in the same world as Timeless, but has a whole new cast of characters. It happens at the same time as Timeless and a few things are intertwined. But you don't need to read Timeless before you read Eye of the Queen, which is available for preorder.

Write everyday. It helps you develop your voice and gives you practice. Also keep EVERYTHING you write. It might, well, stink at times (ask me how I know) but it gives you experience and you learn from it.

Being able to write what you love writing about. I love immersing myself into my world and figuring out what makes my characters tick. It's sometimes frustrating, but I can't think of anything I'd rather do.
