Andrea T. Goeglein Carol Your question could not have come at a better time, especially for all thouse in the New York Metro area who are a big part of his story...for the 4th year he will be singing Sinatra's New York New York as the gun goes off to start the NYC Marathon on Nov 2. It will be televised also. Getting to do that for the first time in 2011 was a big part of his dreams coming true in 2011. Good reminder for us all to keep working toward our dreams. Thank you for your question. A
Andrea T. Goeglein Don't Die with Your Song Unsung was inspired by a real-time, real-life set of events. My greatest current challenge to Don't Die Waiting is finding a story that feels that way for me again...
Andrea T. Goeglein Truth? I do exactly what I suggested when I answered your first question...I do teach what I need to learn...and I do take action. Enjoy the process...I do...And that is why I never view myself as really blocked. I may not be currently inspired but I am never blocked if I am doing some daily action toward my goal.
Andrea T. Goeglein I have committed myself to one main goal -- making my Don't Die (tm) book brand a household helping hand. That means I need to attract some new inspiring stories. My current working title is Don't Die Waiting....
Andrea T. Goeglein Be patient with yourself. I wrote an affirmation for over 10 years about wanting to be a great writer before writing really became a part of my life. To say I am a weak speller is being kind to myself, and I had to overcome a lot of personal blocks before I could have the pleasure of experiencing a writer's block!
Andrea T. Goeglein For me, it was a stretch -- a big stretch to add writing to my life and livelihood. So first and foremost, it was learning a new skill. I have far from mastered it, but I have added it in a big way in an investment of life, time and money. Then it was the realization that no matter how old, no matter how many people do or do not read what I write, no one can take that 'job' away from me. It will be with me as long as I care to have it in my life. That is real freedom for me.
Andrea T. Goeglein There are may techniques to march through writer's block -- or any block -- and that is to engage in the activity...write notes of gratitude, write a letter of compliment for great service, write a love letter, just write...every day. In addition, pick up some crayons and draw -- buy the kind you had as a kid and smell them before you use the. Get some playdoh...the brand you used as a kid again..smell it...and create something fun. Listen to music you love and dance a bit. Take a walk in nature. Then after each activity write something....maybe not your next great novel, but write.
