Good grief! That's my original title. You know how titles sometimes change in the editing process. I think I have changed it. Let me know if you still see the "30 shotgun pellets" anywhere, and thank you for pointing that out.

Bill - - I just read your review. Thank you! Glad you got the book.

David - - Thanks for the question! In Don's autobiography, he wrote, "when we sailed from Manos Island, I left Danny on the beach and reported him missing in action." In my book, I believe I quoted Al Checco, Don's Army buddy, in describing how vague Don was in explaining Danny's demise.

Hi S.L.!
Back in fall 2012, I was pretty much done working on my first book, a memoir about amnesia titled I FORGOT TO REMEMBER. I co-wrote it with Su Meck, helping her recount her life story. I had some time on my hands and was thinking of writing something about Don, because he was my brother in law. I ended up taking my family to Mayberry Days, the annual festival, and at some point along the way my literary agent persuaded me to change the focus from Don alone to the friendship between Andy and Don, which was a great idea. At first I was thinking of doing some kind of article, maybe for a magazine, but the project got so big, so fast, that before long it made sense just to pitch it as a book, so that's what I did. I hope you enjoy it!
