MINE was inspired by an idea, a concept that just kept prickling at the back of my mind. "What would you do if the man you loved just disappeared without a trace." It evolved from there.
As for my work-in-progress, Survivor, I'm really not sure where that idea came from. It sort of just, "happened."

Being a writer is like being the master puppeteer. Anything I want to happen can happen, I control all outcomes. If I really dislike a character, I can make them meet a grisly end. If I want the guy to get the girl, I can arrange it.
It's the perfect outlet for all those conversations I have in my head, the ones where I say, "I wish I would've said..." or "I wish I would've done..."

I don't really believe in writer's block. If you're blocked as a writer, it's because you're trying to force the story. When the story is forced, it just won't feel right, thus adding to the overall frustration. If I can't get a scene to come together, or don't know where to go next, I take a break. Hit the mountains, go for a walk through an open meadow, anything that will allow my mind to let go. Once my mind is free, it's like opening the flood gates, and the creativity flows back in.

Don't take no for an answer. Never stop trying, and never stop writing. Don't get mad at criticism, it is how we learn, and grow, and improve. I have a stack of rejection letters for my books, and all it took was one agent to say she was intrigued.

Oddly enough, I had a title for my most recent novel before I had even completed the concept of what I wanted it to be. It is called "Survivor" and is about a woman's struggle to survive - but more than that, I can't tell you without giving away too much.

Everyday life. I know it sounds dull and uneventful, but when you look around, you see so many people. Everyone has a story, something that is going on in their lives that no one knows about. I like to write about the things people don't see; the side people keep hidden.
