Sharon Drew Morgen I heard a crazy conversation between two really smart people who just didn't understand each other. I got curious about the gap between what's said and what's heard, and there was nothing written on how that gap happens. So I sat down (for what ended up being 3 years) and wrote the book to explain it. Now I know :)
Sharon Drew Morgen It's not an inspiration! It's a drive! A compulsion! It's in my belly, burning burning burning until it comes out. Words and ideas and concepts and sentences all swirling around until they come out. I just have no choice.
Sharon Drew Morgen Trying not to start a new book as my current book What? just came out last week and I'm spending my time on the launch. But I've already started taking notes on my next book and everyone around me (who just went through 3 years of me writing What?) is yelling at me to stop! I'm not a normal person when I'm writing a book :)
Sharon Drew Morgen Just write. Just sit down every single day and write. Write. Write. Write. I've been writing since I was a child. Poems, essays, short stories. I've published 1300 articles and written 9 books. I have privately written a book of poetry. I just need to get the ideas in my head out so I can sleep/eat/walk/think/talk. A writer is someone who writes. So just write!
Sharon Drew Morgen For me it's a joy. For me it's a way to take ideas and roll around with them in my brain to savor and flush out. It's my way of joining my soul.
Sharon Drew Morgen I have never had writer's block! I actually have to stop myself from writing all that comes into my head that I want to write about! I like to write daily as it's an internal drive...like eating.
