Thank you for the question. I'm sorry I've taken so long to reply.
One of the greatest challenges for me as a teacher of English is getting students to let go of their mother tongue and rely on the English they already have.
What's your experience?

As we know, the accent and the idiomatic luggage of a teacher are heavily influenced by the place where they spent their childhood and youth. So, I was thinking about which place in the UK you are from. Simon, where were you born and raised? Best, Sergey.

I was born and raised in Hungary, and my native language is Hungarian. Although I have spent some time both in the US and the UK, I have been mainly exposed to British English throughout my life, and that is also what I teach as an EFL teacher.
