I targeted seekers for my book Christianity For The Average Joe. Sounds like your son might fit into that group. I wanted it to read like a friendly conversation that also persuasively presents the Gospel. That is a big reason why scripture is included at the end of each chapter for readers to look up if they want, rather than sprinkled into the text. My goal is for it to present the Gospel in easy to understand language. The chapters are short and it is not a long book. But only the Spirit of God can convict and compel someone to invite Jesus into their life as Lord and Savior. I will pray for your son.

That is so awesome to hear, Victoria. The power of forgiveness is amazing and liberating. Both when we experience the forgiveness of God, through Jesus Christ and learn to forgive others. You have an interesting story. As you continue to grow in your faith, I pray you are able to share the hope of Jesus with those you counsel.

I used to have this re-occurring dream that I signed up for a class in college, never attended all semester or even read the book, and then realized I had to take a final exam. Always woke up in a cold sweat.

Silke,
Thanks for reaching out. I look forward to your review of Soul Pursuit. I'll have to give Among the Ruins a look. Not sure I am the best advice on marketing. I've tried different approaches with some success, but so far, nothing stellar. I was gaining some traction locally and then Co-vid shut that down. Been very slow going since then. Definitely lean on your friends and social media. And then I encourage you to work Goodreads. Over the last few months, I've slowly been building a friends list, posting updates and engaging with people. Genuine relationship building is the tried and true method of marketing. But it is slow going and takes patience. But slowly, I am gaining visibility. Be yourself. Be authentic. And give God the glory. That is my best advice. Feel free to send me a friend request. I look forward to keeping up with you on Goodreads.

Brian, Thank you for connecting with me. I found you, I believe as a friend of a friend. I'm trying to connect and engage with as many people as possible. I enjoy reading and sharing about what I'm reading. Most of what I read is Christian oriented although I still like a good mystery. Robert B. Parker who wrote the Spencer Detective novels is my favorite, non-Christian writer. I tried to imitate his style in my Christian detective novel, Soul Pursuit. As a writer, I want to sincerely engage with people and maybe speak encouragingly into their lives in small ways that perhaps, makes them curious to read and share my books.

I begin each day reading, studying, praying and reflecting on God's Word. As I write in a journal, ideas and inspiration emerge. Scripture is the source for everything I write. Which is to proclaim the name of Jesus and for the glory of God.

I am currently working on the second book in my Jack Sterling Detective series--Saving Grace. At the moment I am setting up and organizing the chapter outline. This is the process I follow before I begin writing the first draft.
