Inspiration comes in many different ways for me. For some things, I get an initial idea, but it takes me a while to fully develop it. For others, the tale comes almost fully formed and develops as I get it down on paper (or laptop). There are several stories in my latest collection that just popped up and said "Hello" and all I had to do was get to a keyboard and get it down. Those are usually some of my best writings, and I usually have to do very little tweaking.

I am a little more than half-way through the second book of The Starhawk Chronicles. In addition, I am finally starting to flesh out an on-again, off-again epic fantasy that I have had in mind for years. I have written three short prequel stories under the title On Dragons Wings, and the events of those stories will tie directly into the main story of this fantasy project. I see it as one massive novel, though I may split it into two.

It's a bit like playing God. I can create beings and worlds and their fates are in my hands. (Bwahahaha! Mine is an evil laugh!)
But seriously, I have so many different people and personalities bopping around in my head that if I did not get them all out on paper, I'd probably be a candidate for a straight jacket. And I do enjoy feedback from readers, especially the positive. It doesn't need to be praise, per se. Just knowing that someone really enjoyed something I wrote, that it maybe brought some happiness to their day, makes me want to keep on doing it.
