How do you get inspired to write?

Joseph J. Madden Inspiration comes in many different ways for me. For some things, I get an initial idea, but it takes me a while to fully develop it. For others, the tale comes almost fully formed and develops as I get it down on paper (or laptop). There are several stories in my latest collection that just popped up and said "Hello" and all I had to do was get to a keyboard and get it down. Those are usually some of my best writings, and I usually have to do very little tweaking.
