Ben Moeller-Gaa Write. Read. Rewrite. Reread. And submit, submit, submit! Keep submitting to journals you like, even if they don't accept you the first, third, fifth time. And always be sure to READ the journals you submit to before it happens.

I would like to add that it is also important to get involved with a writing community. It can be online or in your city, but knowing and talking to and being around other writers is a true blessing.
Ben Moeller-Gaa Read. It's the best way to keep the embers from going out. I read a whole number of journals as well as anthologies. And when I'm done I read them again. I can't stress enough how much this helps me. Each time I reread an anthology or an issue I always find something new that I didn't see before, and then rediscover the ones I enjoyed on the first go. I also see what other writers are doing, what tricks they use and how they have solved similar issues to problems I'm having with my own haiku. Also, I force myself to write knowing that what I will put down will be bad. And then I keep writing until I find my way again.
Ben Moeller-Gaa Aside from my continually working on new or polishing and submitting older haiku, I have put together my first full length haiku collection, tentatively titled "The Here and There of Fireflies". It's a collection of 99 haiku broken up into 11 themed sections. More on this in due time...
