It's the best way to keep the embers from going out. I read a whole number of journals as well as anthologies. And when I'm done I read them again. I can't stress enough how much this helps me. Each time I reread an anthology or an issue I always find something new that I didn't see before, and then rediscover the ones I enjoyed on the first go. I also see what other writers are doing, what tricks they use and how they have solved similar issues to problems I'm having with my own haiku. Also, I force myself to write knowing that what I will put down will be bad. And then I keep writing until I find my way again.(less)
