Adam L. Feldman The best thing about being a writer is that sense of accomplishment when you finish a work. So much goes into whatever it is that you are doing. For me, writing a blog post takes about an hour. Writing "Journaling" took me half a year. When its done and your work gets into the hands and under the eyes of others... its a great feeling.
Adam L. Feldman Its been said that inspiration looks a lot like perspiration. That's true for me. Its a lot of work to write, and inspiration usually doesn't just "come" to me. So, I keep a list of blog post ideas handy and carry around a small pocket-sized journal in my back pocket to jot down ideas. Before I start writing a chapter in a book, I meticulously organize a robust outline for the chapter. A lot of the "inspiration" for me occurs as I revise (again and again) those outlines.
Adam L. Feldman The best advice I can give an aspiring writer is pretty cliché, but very, very true. Here it is: "Just write."

For years I desired to write a book. I entertained the prospect of "being" a writer and completing a book, etc. Then, one day in 2012, I "owned" what I had always known: the book will not write itself.

Writing "Journaling" was a process of just sitting down every day and pounding out a paragraph, or a couple of pages, or an entire chapter. Revisions were brutal, but necessary. I read the book at least a dozen times while revising it.

Writing is a lot of hard work, but totally worth it! So, what are you waiting for? Forget about yesterday and start writing today! You can do it.
Adam L. Feldman The hardest problem for me is starting. If I can get started, then I can pound out 500+ words in a matter of minutes. With regard to my website, I keep an Excel file full of article ideas. This way if I am pressed for time or lacking creative ingenuity, I'll just mine that file for ideas. When it comes to writing a longer work--such as an article for another website or writing a book--I use an outlining process. Basically, I spend a huge amount of time generating as robust an outline as possible. Then, when it comes to writing, I simply follow my outline and write about what I've got there. Its not perfect, but it keeps me writing.
