The idea for 'Not in Our Hands' sprang from three points of interest. Firstly to see what would happen among a group of students abroad in Italy, my favourite European country, second by reading about a medieval bread box what an Italian designer had in her family and thirdly I wanted to - and did - throw into the mix an interfaith relationship.

I would become a child again and go visit 'The Secret Garden', to help clear the weeds and watch if flourish again, then play in it with the protagonist and the cousin she discovers.
