Do I need to read The Bone Shard Daughter before the Bone Shard Emperor? The second one is available at my library, but the first one not till later this month.
Andrea Stewart Hi Susan! You’ll want to read the first book before The Bone Shard Emperor. I do try to recap a bit as the beginning goes along, but the first book is a precursor to the second, which picks up shortly after the first book ends.

Just finished The Bone Shard Daughter and loved it - really looking forward to the next one and November seems ages away!! Do you think there might be more than two in the series? I hope so as the characters are great and there's more to them yet, I can see that. Thank you!!
Andrea Stewart Hi Anna! I sold this as a trilogy, so yes, there is a third one on the way! The Bone Shard Emperor is all cleaned up and ready to go, and I'm currently working on revisions for the third book, The Bone Shard War. The story for these characters ends after the third book :)

What inspired your Bone Empire series? It seems like a lot of writers made books with bone in the Title.
Andrea Stewart The seed for the idea came when I was having lunch with some other writer friends of mine back in 2013, and my friend Marina Lostetter (an amazing SFF writer!) nearly choked on a shard of bone in her food. From there, I started imagining a magic system involving shards of bone taken from citizens, and the world and characters grew from there.

My friends have joked that clearly one of them needs to suffer a near-death experience for my next series...

I was thinking about reading your book - Loose Changeling but when I saw it had only 2 reviews on amazon and 6 here on goodreads. I was wondering if you were still planning on writing more to the series? I basically only read series and that's why I'm asking.
Andrea Stewart Hi Lisa! The book just came out yesterday, hence the dearth of reviews :) It is part of a planned series. There's an interim novella, Changeling on the Job, that will be out this summer, and I'm revising the second book, Spare Changeling. The third and fourth books are outlined, so it's happening!

I completely understand. I personally don't like to get involved in a series until a few books are out--because I can't stand waiting to find out what happens!
