Stop reading this and start. Seriously. You're NEVER gonna be "ready" so just start. Journal if you have to, heck, write about your last meal you just ate but for goodness sake, get your hands moving and start writing. Something. Anything. Don't worry if it's not perfect. Like any thing in the world you need to practice. so get to it. Reading about writing isn't going to create writing. But if you write, even if it's about writing, you are now a lot closer than you were before.

Two things, really. One, my book on overcoming procrastination and writer's block and the other follow up novel will be a historical fiction piece set in the dying days of the Second World War.

As lame as this may sound, to me, writers have always been the rock stars. And who doesn't want to be a rock star?
I know that writers are not the big celebrities, and that's not what I want. But to me, writers have always been inspirational. How could one guy come up with an entire world and share that on paper? I thought it was impossible. But then I did it so that just goes to show you it's not that hard.

This answer contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[Like a lot of authors, I guess it came down to a "what if?" In my debut novel, Slaughter & Maneuver, my what if was the matching plane transponders. That really was the nucleus of the story and it just branched out from there. (hide spoiler)]

When you get in that certain zone. Writing can be tough, sure, but for the most part it's fun. Even though it is fun, that doesn't mean that procrastination doesn't win out most times, it does! But when I sit down and write and get what has been rattling inside my mind for who knows how long, there really is no better feeling. Serious. Sometimes when I write, I'm just the observer as the words come gushing out.
I live for that moment.
