The only time I get writer's block is with my nonfiction. It deals with teaching horseback riding and writing curriculum. After I procrastinate for I while, I go through my files and read old note, or comments from blog readers for inspiration. I know I need to write my nonfiction and sometimes I just have to gut it out and do it.

The best thing about writing is pouring your passion into your stories. It's also nice to let those characters out of your head!

My advice isn't anything new. Keep at it. Becoming a writer takes more perseverance than you ever thought it would. Constantly try to improve your skill. Take criticism with grace. And know that you don't have to take everyone suggestion you're given. You have the final say over your own story.

I am currently working on book #2 in the For Love & Horses series. It's in the proof reading stage. Kristi is a nurse in the ER at a children's hospital. She has two passions. One is photographing nature and the other is America's wild horses. She has her dream grant to photograph wild horses so she keeps a tight grasp on her schedule. That means she doesn't risk getting tangled up in messy relationships, especially if they involve boyfriends. And of course, that's exactly when Mr. Perfect comes into her life.

I love to write so inspiration isn't difficult. My trouble comes when I have to balance my fiction with my nonfiction. Nonfiction is more like a job and my fiction is where I'd love to spend all of my time.

Because I live in the Kansas City area which is the home of Hallmark, I thought it would be fun to write a story that takes place here with Hallmark books in mind but Hallmark Publishing quit before I was ready to submit. Last Wish is based on an area named Brookside which is near the Country Club Plaza. The story is about a woman who runs a bakery that makes horse and dog treats. She has a passion for helping animal rescues and is a community organizer for all things pet related. But she has a secret that b egins to unravel when her high school sweetheart returns.
