Jamie Beck No problem. The blog post, however, is on my profile page beneath the list of my books. :-)
Jamie Beck Thanks, Liz. Oddly, the answer is all and none! LOL There are pieces of each character that ring true for me, but I've never been fully in any one of their shoes. I've been a SAHM like Chloe, which did at times feel tedious to me after having had a corporate law career. I've been at loose ends like Jess, unsure of what would make me happy. And while I've never been fired like Liz, I've definitely faced professional setbacks and questioned my goals. Hopefully most readers will also a little of themselves in each character, too. Thanks for reading and asking the question.
Jamie Beck Hi, Patricia! Thank you for reading one of my books. Sanctuary Sound is a fictional town--a sort of amalgam of towns like Branford, Guilford, and the like. I wish it were real, though! :-) Hope you enjoy the story. Have a great day.
Jamie Beck Hi Robin,
No, that's a different Ally Dunlap. The Ally who helped me with my research on Peyton's type of breast cancer is in her forties. Thanks for reading!
Jamie Beck Thanks for looking me up, Beth. I started writing about a decade ago, give or take. I found myself with free time once my kids were both in grade school, so I finally gave my old dream a shot (I was 42 or so at the time--so it is NEVER too late).
Jamie Beck Thanks, Nancy. There is a blog post on my author page here, but I did capture your name in my "randomizer bowl" for the drawing. Sadly, I drew another name for the prize. Thanks for playing!
Jamie Beck Hi, I did have your name in my "randomizer" bowl, but I pulled another name from the hat. Thanks for stopping by!
Jamie Beck Hi! Me time? What is this thing you speak of? LOL Just kidding. I love to read, cook, dance, walk my dog, Mo, and go out to restaurants with friends. I started learning to knit recently, but haven't made as much progress as I'd hoped to. Happy summer!! xo
Jamie Beck Jim, I assume when you note "an unusual subject to write about" you are talking about the issue of traumatic memory loss? I find that kind of thing fascinating, although I didn't overwhelm the reader with that part of the story or her assault because, at heart, THE MEMORY OF YOU is essentially a second-chances love story. Thanks for asking about my newsletter. You can sign up here: https://bit.ly/2QqqV6E Thanks for writing!
Jamie Beck You're perceptive! Yes, currently that is the only book to date that I've written in first person. At the time, I was advised that most editors at publishing houses preferred third person. However, I've recently noticed a trend where more authors are writing in first person. I like the immediacy and intimacy of it, so for the proposal I've put in for 2020 titles, I'm pitching another new series and a switch to writing in first person. Fingers crossed that my publisher likes the ideas and buys the books!
Jamie Beck Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked those books. Sadly, I have finished that series. I am, however, very excited for readers to join me in Sanctuary Sound, a new series that begins this fall with The Memory of You. It is set in a fictional coastal Connecticut town, and revolves around three friends who come home to repair broken bonds and make peace with the past as they wrestle with the uncertainty of the future. The books are filled with romance, hope, and the unbreakable spirit of friendship. I hope you will like them, too! Thanks for writing.
Jamie Beck Thanks for writing. Those two books you mention here are NOT mine. My next release is THE MEMORY OF YOU, which comes out on October 30th. I will be contacting Goodreads to correct the situation, thank you.
Jamie Beck What a nice note to wake up to this morning. I'm so glad to know that you enjoyed this book. Yes, you will see Hunter and Sara fairly often in Gentry's book (and there is one last twist for them). Gentry's epilogue, in particular, sort of ties up all the open threads in the Cabot family. :-)
Jamie Beck Gentry's book? WHEN YOU KNEW comes out on June 26th (the pre-order link is live on Amazon). It's a lot lighter than the first two, and I think it nicely wraps up all of the family drama. :-)
Jamie Beck I would go back in time as the long-lost cousin of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton family. I loved all of them and would enjoy meeting (and taming) my very own rogue duke! :-)
Jamie Beck I've got Kristan Higgins's On Second Thought near the top of my TBR (I know, I'm behind, but it's been a super-busy spring). I'm also very excited for Julia Quinn's next release, The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband. I love, love, love her Regencies, but this switch to the Revolutionary War setting should be interesting. Also, Wendy Walker's next psychological thriller, Emma In The Night, is on my TBR, too. And Susan Wigg's August release, Map of the Heart will surely be worth reading.
Jamie Beck I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Kidding...

Sadly, I can't think of a single "mystery" in my real life that is plot-worthy. I'm pretty straight-forward, as has been most of my life. The only real mystery in my house these days is the recurring "where is the missing sock?" one. Maybe I could turn that into a paranormal?
Jamie Beck Sure have! I pass by the Oil City exit off I-80 whenever I drive from CT to Pittsburgh to visit my family. I've never actually stopped there, though. I'm usually in a hurry to finish the long drive. :-)
Jamie Beck This is an impossible question! I'm going to cheat and give two answers, because both couples popped into mind at the same time, so that must be my gut telling me what my brain can't quite answer. First, from Mary Balogh's Slightly Dangerous, Wulfric and Christine. Oh my, when he climbs that tree at the end...what a case of opposites attracting. Love them both, individually, and more as a pair. Then I also loved Beatrix and Christopher in Lisa Kleypas's Love in the Afternoon. Those love letters really spoke to me, and to them as like-minded couple. I can re-read these books a million times and never be bored.
Jamie Beck Hi Sara, thanks for writing.

Yes, there will be additional St. James books! Cat and Hank's story (Worth the Trouble) will be released next spring, and Jackson's story (Worth the Risk) will follow (it will end the series and tie up all the loose ends).

In the interim, I'm launching a new series featuring sexy skier heroes, the first book of which will release on October 6th (Accidentally Hers). So there will be lots of reading options!

Have a great week.
