My current book project, If Love is a Lie, is based on my real life experiences with a scam artist who wooed me on Match.com for a few months then tried to scam me out of money. I took the sad truth and spun it into a romantic thriller where the story can have a happy ending.

So far most of the stories I've written were inspired by real events in my life. My series, The Purity of Blood, was inspired by my desire to meet my ancestors. As an avid genealogist, it's been a fantasy for a long time to meet my great, great, great, great grandparents. Using that fantasy, I created a way to bring them into the present day and so they are main characters in my series.

I've actually never had writer's block. I always start with a thorough outline that I follow pretty closely. I'll wander from it from time to time, but I always find my way back to the next bullet point.

Free therapy! I've found I work out many of my issues in my writing. I think I'm a much more carefree and happy person because of it.

The old saying is soooo true. If you want to be a writer ... then write. I've been writing for a bunch of years now and have certainly grown in all of my abilities through repetition. It's kind of like ironing a stubborn shirt. The first time you iron it, you get a few wrinkles out. The second time, a few more. The third time, it's looking better. And so on. Just keep at it.

While finishing book five in my current series, I've also started outlining my next project. This book will be a fictionalized version of what happened when a Malaysian Internet Scammer tried to take me for money on a dating website. I've spun a good romance story around it.
