J.L. Langland There is hope. Latest, working on it, but slow, I've decided to revamp some things. Latest information is always at https://astlan.world
J.L. Langland Still writing, I hope to have it out next year 2023 For these big, complicated POV books, the beta and final editing is so long that I can't finish writing and get all that done this year.
J.L. Langland Thanks, but no. Newest book comes out December 4, 2021! Oak Orks of the Antilles: into The Night. It's the Trig Bioblast quest for the Doom of the Antilles.
J.L. Langland So, this system here is crazy...you wrote this 2 years ago, but I am just now seeing it. Sorry!

See new post that I will be writing today! on OOA:ITN

Book 4 pretty much maxed out what I can do in a single book. The problem is the size of the Paperback. 1) It can't be over 850 pages total and 2) after about 600 pages the price gets too high to justify, particular for traditional bookstores outside the US (as it is, I make about 25 cents on a book sold in a traditional bookstore in Europe, if it gets any longer the price really has to go up because the system won't let me sell at a loss)

So, that is one reason OOA:ITN was split off from the main story line. It is the quest for the Doom of Antilles, just like the other shamans' quests, but because it is Science Fiction (mostly) and because there is so much that has to be explained, and because it is on a longer time scale (space travel is slow) I spun that off separately outside the main story

J.L. Langland Sorry, somehow missed seeing this. After a lot of delays due to work and family medical issues, I am finally back on track. Oak Orks of the Antilles: Into the Night, should get out this year. It is the story of Trig Bioblast's search for a Doomalogue and takes place concurrently with Book IV. I am also working on Book IV, but OOA will be out first since it is much closer to completion.
J.L. Langland Sorry for the hideously long delay, this has been a crazy year for me. All books are still on as planned, I've just been working 12 hour days, 7 days a week for several month. My last day off was Labor Day weekend, before that was Memorial day....visit FB for full details on the plans for the series.https://www.facebook.com/demonsofastlan
J.L. Langland Sorry not to get back to you sooner, I have been overwhelmed with work (my day job) and had very little free time. Yes, the books will all continue, I just keep hoping my workload will slowdown. I hope to have OOA:ITA out this year and get back to moving on book 4.
J.L. Langland Hi, Sorry for the delay in seeing this, I recently did a FB post on it, and will repost on my blog here.
J.L. Langland Hi,
Just seeing this unanswered, thought I have answered it before, but if not sorry. There are just a bunch of questions that showing up as unanswered over a time period that I had been checking but didn't see unanswered ones.

I am working on 3 books at the moment, all related. Book 4 obviously and Oak Orks of the Antilles: Into the Night, the Trig BioBlast story and quest for the Doom of the Antilles, that will be out next, had hoped to have it out about now, but ended up doing 80 hour weeks at day job the last 3 months of 2019....

Hope to have that out midyear. It's about half the size of the others.

Then will come Book IV, but that will probably last year because it's as big as the others and as complicated and that's what's hard when I am also doing a day job vs full time writing. Keeping the complexity consistent.

Then will be Chronicles of Astlan: Into the Wilds, which is the story of the 7th heir to the Holy Etonian Empire's throne and takes place in the region where several characters are going in Book IV and eventually ties in around Book 5.
J.L. Langland Hi,

I don't currently have a picture of the Wand, I will at some point have it, possibly with Book IV's cover. While I did the original cover, and do some of the character work at http://astlan.world, I really don't feel I can do the wand justice, so prefer to have my cover artist do it.

J.L. Langland Hi,

Sorry for the delay on seeing this. Goodreads goes so long with no questions, I sometimes don't check every day.

OOA is coming along and I am hoping to go to beta with it before too long, this is the Trig Bioblast story, Tom & various D'Orks are in it, but the point of view is Trig only. It takes place at the same time as Book IV.

Book IV should then come out after that, then COA, Chronicles of Astlan.

I am hoping OOA at end of year/first quarter 2020, then Book 4 about a year later, then COA another year later

After that is Book 5, 6, probably 7 as well as additional COA and OOA books, and possibly SOA (Seas of Astlan) with Captain Asmeth and the Interdimensional Brigands who stole the book.
J.L. Langland Hi,

If you check out the forums, there are a couple topics on the Beta sessions that are open to everyone to read. Those are basically sign up lists for the beta readers. In those, Tizzy likes to complain about the status of the books and how slow they are going. However, there are also updates on when I think betas will start. Once we go to beta, that lasts about 1 to 2 months, then 4 to 6 weeks at the editor, then it goes to Tantor for recording. The book will come out a couple months before the audio just because that takes a lot more time after the editor than formatting the books.

I hope to be going to beta for OOA in September, so that one is at end of year, I hope.

I will announce Beta on https://astlan.world and here and FB so that people will have an idea when the book will be out.
J.L. Langland Sorry, not sure how I missed this. I am (and have been) working on three related books. Oak Orks of the Antilles: Into the Night (the Trig Bioblast quest for a Doomalogue) and Chronicles of Astlan: Into the Wild and of course the fourth volume of DOA. I am hoping to have the first draft of OOA done in September and then the Beta Demons will rip it to shreds, and once repaired to their satisfaction, it will go to the editor for several weeks, when it comes back, it goes to Tantor for the audible book and I start formatting it for dead tree and kindle. That formatting is 2 to 4 weeks. The audio book recording will be a couple months. And then the book is released and the audible a month or two later.

So thinking that will be out near end of year. Then book 4 will come next, probably middle of 2020, then COA. Then the cycle starts again in some order for the next book in each three series. No idea what order or focus the next round will have.

J.L. Langland It's not annoying at all, just wish I could give a shorter timeline. For the previous books I took 6 to 9 months off just to write, this time I didn't do that and so am working my day job and writing, which means it takes me a lot longer, it's not just the total hours, but the connected hours where I can really concentrate and focus without having to go back and reread/regroup what is happening as much.

So between that and the fact that I am actually writing on 3 books at once: Book IV and Oak Orks of the Antilles: Into the Night and Chronicles of Astlan: Into the Wilds things are taking a lot longer than I anticipated.

All three books cross over and share characters, so in some ways the other two books are extended versions/story of Book IV (and V).

Anyway, I hope to get at least one of the three books out yet this year, then the second and third next year. I am not yet sure of the order, but I think it will be OOA, Book IV, COA.
J.L. Langland Hi, I am just running way behind mainly due to my day job, but also lots of family health issues in the last year. Currently working on Oak Orks of The Antilles: Into the Night, Book IV, Chronicles of Astlan: Into the Wilds and they will probably come out in that order. The audibles are all contracted for, so they will come out about 3 months after Kindle version (they can't record until there is a finished/edited text version) Hoping to get at least one of the three this year and the other two next.
J.L. Langland Hi, Turns out, this 3 book thing was not as simple as I thought...in particular with Book 4 and OOA (the first to come out) as they interact more and move at different paces (space travel is slow).

Actually, at the moment my focus is on Book 4, I do go back and forth on OOA and Book IV (COA is on hold until after those 2).

The real holdup is less the three books than the fact that on previous books I took 6 to 9 months off to do nothing but write. Great for writing, not for eating...so this time I am working and writing and the working is what's hurting in that I don't get enough in depth concentration time and have to do a lot of "go back and capture the train of thought" The extra books are more like icing on the cake distractions.

So that was the general slowness, and then a stop last fall due to family illness, travel and then making up work in overtime....

But I am back and going....I am hoping to have OOA and DOA out in some undetermined order this year.
J.L. Langland Sorry, somehow missed seeing this. For some odd reason they don't show notifications of Questions.

I am afraid things are still slow, with the previous books I took 6-9 months off to dedicate to writing, this time I decided to try and work and write, and that proved far slower going than expected as I don't get the concentrated/focused time and spend a lot of time refocusing on what was happening. Then try switching between 3 books and focus is all over the place. Probably a mistake to try all 3 at once.

In any event, things were moving slowly until August when they ground to a halt due to my father's very bad health and then an disaster recovery situation at my main client that required me to spend a lot of time on that.

I am hoping to get back on track this month.

Currently I am closest to finishing Oak Orks of the Antilles, so that should be the next book out, hoping in first half of this year, then next book (probably 4) in the last half.
