You absolutely don't know if you can write it until you try. If I'd been asked to write, I would have said it landed solidly in the "not my skillset" category. I was always a science/math girl. I wanted to work in wildlife. Writing had never crossed my mind. Until I did it. No one is more surprised than me that the story turned out to be what it did. I could write 50 books, and I don't think it would ever make sense to me that I "write".

Being the first "reader" to your favorite story. I might outline my books, but the characters still do whatever the hell they want. I'm along for the ride, which means I'm really just the 1st reader, often left staring at the keyboard in shock (sometimes a cold shower). And I thought being a zookeeper came with surprises. LOL
