Hi Chris, the projected publishing date is mid-October 2017. I've been incredibly busy with Invasion (K'Tai 1) and a host of other projects, but, I'm back on track with the Saiph series ;) I'm glad you're looking forward to reading it! You can sign up at http://ppcorcoran.com/subscribe and I'll email you when Legacy of the Saiph is ready for release. All the best, Paul.

It's tricky DB and I have to admit I've made editing mistakes. With my first book, Discovery of the Saiph, I didn't think anyone would buy it and I didn't have it edited, as I'm sure like you I didn't think I'd see that cash again. But Discovery started to sell and got generally good reviews on the storyline, but many comments about poor editing. At this point, probably 4 or 5 weeks after first release, I sent it for editing. I decided the readers who were paying for my work deserved to have a quality read, and to be honest I didn't like disappointed readers!
However, I made a second mistake. Due to my inexperience I chose a cheaper, but it turned out, poorer editing service. As a result I continue to get comments about editing and spelling (I think me writing in British English and the majority of my readers being US based doesn't help). I changed my editor for the next book to one based in New York and have had no negative feedback on it.
The other thing to consider, if you don't professionally edit your first book, is if even one reviewer picks up on it then every reader thereafter looks out for it - and the subject of editing constantly pops up.
Personally speaking, I want to make a living from my writing. I can't afford to turn readers off over editing, I need expert guidance and for me (on the whole) professional editing had been a worthwhile investment.

Don't give up is the first thing that pops into my mind! But really if I look back at what I did wrong and what I did right when I published my first book.. Really, you must get your support network in place. By this I mean you need a host of things: a good editor, a good book cover, a website or blog (preferably both), twitter, Facebook page for your books or author persona and any other social media accounts, like google+, tumblr, instagram, that you can. Have your next book ready to launch at an opportune time, don't drag it out like I did. It's all about getting your name and your books out there, on the web and keep them there. There are so many great writers that you need to do something different to get noticed- I'm sure there's many authors out there who will agree. Then there's marketing and advertising, the list goes on! I know I'm quite fortunate, in my wife's words I "just write", she does the book covers, book trailers, kindle & createspace formatting, set up the website and blog (luckily she has a degree in art and design), then she's learned about marketing and advertising along the way - and is still learning. We're both still learning, at the end of the day keep writing, that is the most important thing and have the confidence to publish it, just proof read it to death and have it edited first! There are loads of resources for writers, I started with reading The Creative Penn blog/website to get Discovery of the Saiph out, but I've also been trying to improve my writing by listening to reader reviews and seeing what they want. I want to write full time and I need my readers to do that, much as I want to write for me, I also have to write for them - don't get me wrong I love it! I just wish I'd started a few years ago!

I'm in the final stages of Search for the Saiph, book 2 of my military science fiction Saiph Series. It continues the story of the Terran Republic of Earth and their allies battling with their mysterious enemy The Others.

Mmm... A romantic scene between Patricia Bath and John Radford in Search for the Saiph, unfortunately I don't have a romantic bone in my body! I find it incredibly difficult and usually take advice from my wife

I walk away from it and come back tomorrow
