Sometimes it is good to take a few days off and do something fun or totally different and forget about writing. Other times, I go back and revise what I have written previously. My writer's blocks have been short and usually involve story development in the beginning. Some days are simply not good days to write and I can't produce much. But I figure if I can write one just page in a day, I have made progress.

The act of creating. You get into a groove where you can disappear into your story and write page after page and be oblivious to time. Those are the days when the Muses are with you. When they are not, and there are those days, you go back and revise.

You have to be tenacious. Don't give up just because you may get rejections. Seek out the assistance of a professional who can mentor you or take classes where you can learn to become a better writer. I wish I had a dollar for every rejection I received over the years!

Ideas and the creative need to express them in story form inspire me to put them on paper. Some people have referred to it as the Muses being present. I enjoy sitting down with my laptop and beginning to write. It's hard to explain.

Since Havana Brown is a prequel, the only references I had to go on were the few that were mentioned in Rose's Thorn. So, I had to create the story around those references.
