It isn't going to be easy. It isn't supposed to be. You aren't going to be perfect right off the bat. Like with all other professions, writing is an uphill climb towards betterment. It takes dedication, discipline, and determination to get up each day and put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. There will be obstacles, pitfalls, slip-ups, and frustrations. But that is all part of the journey. As is learning, developing, and honing your craft. Writing takes patience and practice. A lot of practice. If you want to make it, you have to keep at it, no matter what. Just keep going, keep writing, and eventually you'll get to see just how far you've truly come.

Everything I ever wanted to learn, teach, do, say, explore, and discover, is possible through my stories. I can be anyone, do anything, create thousands of different settings and situations. The freedom to create is exhilarating, to say the least, and nothing tops when various characters, settings, events, and philosophies just seem to effortlessly mesh into one cohesive piece of fiction.

It depends upon the cause and type of the block. Sometimes I simply push through it until the words begin to flow. Sometimes I change things up, writing by hand or using a typewriter instead of the computer. Sometimes I take a step back, do something else, engage in other creative activities. Sometimes I act out the scene, figuring out where I want my characters to go, how I want them to feel in that moment, what I want them to say/express/do. And sometimes I bounce ideas around, talk things over with someone, or jot notes as a way of discovering new avenues of thinking and plotting.

By getting up every day and deciding to sit my backside in the chair and move forward. Every time I dive into the worlds of my characters, every time I type out their journey, I keep in mind that I'm not just writing their life story, but my own. I want my life story to be fulfilling, to matter, to inspire. And the only way to do that is if I work at it. Every day, the future inspires me to be active in the present, always striving to better myself and my craft.

Echoing Sacrifice: Captive is the continuation of The Gates of Dolimar Series, and it follows the journey of a human teen from our world as she navigates and interacts with another world, this one populated by both humans and dragons.
The series originated from several ideas and ideals that eventually meshed into one (very long) story. I'd always been fascinated by the idea of self-sacrifice and how far a person might go for a stranger in order to do the right thing. Add to that a passion for dragons--their various clans, sizes, shapes, abilities, etc.--and the story of Khyl's journey through Dolimar was born.
