Hi Alissa, sorry for taking a while to reply. I hope to publish the 4th book in the Adarna chronicles in the next 12 months. I have been on quite a long hiatus (clearly!), but back now with fresh motivation.

I think it is a case of fiction mirroring reality. The world (or nature itself) was a form of paradise until we came along. We live in a world that is being, from the perspective of nature, ruined. Maybe we're fascinated by it because we see it happening before our eyes and do nothing about it- it's much easier to bemoan the idiocy of it happening in a fictional world I guess?

Good question. I am an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction and I was really struggling to find good books to read (I know there are plenty out there it is just separating the wheat from the chaff that is the issue). I had dabbled in writing in my youth to no avail. I guess I wanted to write the kind of books (Paradise and the Adarna chronicles) that I would have enjoyed when I was young. Hopefully I have managed that ambition and my books will be seen as 'wheat' rather than 'chaff'.
I guess I really started writing because I knew that I didn't want to go to my grave forever regretting that I hadn't at least tried it...

Just write. You could try the software program called 'Write or Die' but in my experience, just write anything. That might mean leaving your main project whilst you do something else. I usually have at least two projects on the go so that I can switch if I get stuck on one.
The other advice is don't worry about getting it right first time, as long as you know you are in for many, many re-writes, it doesn't really matter too much what the first draft looks like as long as the story is good.

The best thing is getting positive feedback from readers. I crave it and it is wonderful to get.

Just start to write. Learn as you go along, that way you will be polishing your most important skill (actually writing) whilst you are learning the ropes (that said, I am still learning the ropes, so what do I know?)

I am currently working on the second book in my fantasy series 'The Adarna Chronicles', it's called 'Phoenix rising' and should be out at the end of July 2014.

I have been an avid reader my whole life. It was just something that I had to do. We all have a limited time available to us and I wanted to live the dream while I could.

I saw a man walking across a railway station. He was old but very confident. That day 'David May' aka 'The bloody King' was born (in my mind at least)
