I have Shantaram on my immediate to-do list plus two Bill Bryson books and possibly The Girl with All the Gifts

Right now my most recent published book is "The Old Man on the Beach". This collection of stories were mostly written in November 2014 at a particularly dark time in my life. I decided to write a form of memoirs in semi-fictional form dealing with my life from childhood to now. It was a kind of therapy for me and let through to two years of great creativity which shows no sign of slowing down!

I have two mysteries in my own life which will, eventually, be the basis for two different books! One will be fiction based upon a mix of very real people I know or knew. The other will be a true story about some horrific events in my life.
More than that I can's say (or they won't be mysteries!)...

My apologies for taking so long to answer! There are quite a few books out there worth trying. The Lonely Planet Bangladesh Travel Guide is a good place to start for an overview of everything. For history try Willem van Schendel's A History of Bangladesh. For a greater feel for the culture and and history since independence in 1971 try Tahmima Anam's A Golden Age - it is a novel but it will give you much insight into Bangla life, fears and thinking. Best wishes!

I'm a lifelong learner and, rather like and excited puppy, I find excitement everywhere. I also have ADHD like my son and only found this out a few years ago. It makes a lot of sense about how I do things. I have a very short attention span and I love to learn lots of new things. I also love meeting new people and learning all about them. The result is that I have never ever had to worry about writer's block and every day I have something which inspires me to write!

I'm painfully close to completing my collection of short stories which has been dragging on for five months now. Finding time to finish the book is the big problem as I do so much work for editors these day.

I love working from home. I can start and finishing writing pretty much when I like (except when deadlines are nearing and I have no choice but to get a piece written and sent to the editor!) and I can take a break as and when.
I also get to read for a living! It's wonderful to get lost in a good book and then write and review about it and get paid or otherwise deeply imbibe from it and improve my own craft.
