Derek McCaw I struggle with this. It's easy to write on days I feel like my brain is bubbling. On other days it's easier to say "ah, juggling day job, family, home, and man, I'm tired." And then nothing gets done. I think the wisest thing ever said to me by a producer many, many years ago was "give yourself permission to suck. Then write. Then rewrite." I try to remember that.

Derek McCaw I had been working with Jason Williams on a screenplay he wanted to produce, and he brought up that he had starred as Flesh Gordon. As he told me stories about working on the film, I told him that was the story we should be telling. About a year later, he came back to me and said it was time.
