Elizabeth Shore Hi Onyinye!

I don't actually choose the models for my covers. It's done by my publisher.

Are you interested in modeling yourself? You might try contacting some publishers directly if you are. I don't know for sure if that's how it's done, but it's a start, anyway. ;-)

Good luck, and thanks for writing!
Elizabeth
Elizabeth Shore Hi Carla!

I've been writing seriously for a long time...since the late 90's! But it took a long time before I finally got published. Good thing persistence is my friend. :-) I just had to keep writing, keep learning, and eventually I found a publisher who took me on.

Thanks for the question.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth Shore I'm currently editing a historical erotic novella called Desire Rising that's going to be published by The Wild Rose Press. It takes place in the late 1700's in London and is about a naive young woman forced into an arranged marriage to a horrible brute of a man. The heroine tries loving her husband only to be answered with physical abuse. One night during a terrible fight the husband ends up getting killed. Although it was an accident, the heroine knows she'll be blamed and face the hangman's noose when her husband's horrid brother seeks revenge. So she escapes in the middle of the night and reinvents herself into an elegant, worldly woman who enjoys the physical pleasures of love but guards her emotional side. She knows what happened when she tried loving once before and never wants to go through that again. Then she meets a man who himself carries painful emotional scars. Their physical loving is scorching hot, but they end up helping each other heal and re-discover the beautiful side of emotional, romantic love as well.
Elizabeth Shore What really motivated my career was joining a critique group. The fellow writers in my group have been honest in their assessment yet supportive of my vision and dreams. They've pointed out where they feel I've strayed in the plot or pacing, they've made suggestions (great ones!) on ways to improve my writing, and they've cheered my successes. I, in turn, do the same for them. I resisted doing this for a long time, perhaps because writing is a solitary journey and I didn't feel I needed anyone else. Boy, was I wrong! Join a good critique group - you won't regret it.
Elizabeth Shore Really, what happened was that I had a lightbulb moment. I was living in San Diego at the time and was listening to a talk radio show. The caller was a woman who aspired to be a writer and asked the show host for tips on getting started in her career. The host made a comment about how difficult it is to get published no matter what you write, but then made an almost off-handed remark that the romance genre, while still difficult to get published in, may potentially be more receptive to new authors simply because of the sheer volume of material that's needed. Romance readers are voracious and the host opined that maybe romance would be an area for the caller to start because as a new writer, she may have a better chance of getting accepted. That was my moment. A lightbulb went off in my head and I realized, "I should do that!" And so I did ...
Elizabeth Shore I set a low threshold. I decide that if I write just one sentence, it's one more sentence than I had the day before. More often than not, that one sentence will turn into two, then four, then maybe even a whole paragraph. But if it doesn't, that's okay. I don't find that being my own harsh dictator is very successful. I don't want to feel punished by myself! My mother raised me better than that. :-)
