Eyes Wide Shut took me just over four years to complete from the first notes a began jotting down to the day I submitted it for publication. For various reasons...
- my mothers death
- having a newborn
- my dad had a stroke
- day to day life with family and a full-time job
- creating the scenery and characters for the entire series
- divorce
The story did not take me as long, because I spent a large amount of that last year editing and finding the nerve to actually put it out for the world to read.
I learned a lot by writing my first book and now that my second one is almost complete, I have become more familiar with the ins and outs of publishing. I also have learned to better manage my time when writing and now that my kids are older it has become significantly easier to find the time. Four years will hopefully be the longest I take to write a book :) The second one will come out about a year and half after I started. Baby steps :)

I was advised by other authors to go the self-publishing way first, so that is where I am at. At this time I'm going to stick with self-publishing, however if the moment arrives where I feel a traditional publisher can give me more I will go that route.
Having the courage to publish Theia's Moons was a task all in itself. It took me nearly a year to get up the nerve. I revised the book several times before I finally set it down and realized I was getting no where very fast. That was when I decided I needed to take the leap and move forward with publishing :)

Inspiration has always come from within for me. Although outer experiences have definitely helped to create that inspiration. Watching the sunset, hearing the sounds of the waves breaking just off shore, drinking a hot cup of coffee, the breeze on my skin as I take a run... all of these inspire me in some form or other. Forcing inspiration does not work. It just IS.

I am working on the second book in the series of Theia's Moons. I am hoping to have it out before the end of 2015.

It is what I love! That's the best thing about being a writer. Writing is my passion. When I am in the midst of quiet writing, I feel peace and sincere happiness.

My initial idea for Theia's Moons was from a strange and alluring dream I had about six years ago. I began writing around that dream and it slowly progressed into a few chapters. Over the years, my experiences shaped the remainder of the chapters. Those experiences/life revelations are symbolized and tied into the ending chapters and I am excited to bring more life to them in the next book of the series.
