Arnela asked Niki Livingston:

How long have you spent just getting your book together, from the beginning to the end of the story itself?

Niki Livingston Eyes Wide Shut took me just over four years to complete from the first notes a began jotting down to the day I submitted it for publication. For various reasons...

- my mothers death
- having a newborn
- my dad had a stroke
- day to day life with family and a full-time job
- creating the scenery and characters for the entire series
- divorce

The story did not take me as long, because I spent a large amount of that last year editing and finding the nerve to actually put it out for the world to read.

I learned a lot by writing my first book and now that my second one is almost complete, I have become more familiar with the ins and outs of publishing. I also have learned to better manage my time when writing and now that my kids are older it has become significantly easier to find the time. Four years will hopefully be the longest I take to write a book :) The second one will come out about a year and half after I started. Baby steps :)
