Cindi Rogers When I have a period of writer's block, I try to relax, but it's difficult for me. My mind is constantly "on" and I mull over and over. Sometimes it helps me to reread what I've written back to a certain point and then the flow will begin again. Sometimes this doesn't work, so I just have to practice patience.
Cindi Rogers The best thing about being a writer is being able to express myself and then hear someone else validate those expressions through their own experience.
Cindi Rogers Keep notes. I kept notes when our sons were little and these helped my memory and helped develop stories around them. Whether you use the notes now or later, they absolutely help when you are ready to write.
Cindi Rogers I am constantly conjuring up stories in my mind! I have ideas for two books, both having nothing to do with Fragile X Syndrome :)
Cindi Rogers I was inspired by my own pain, actually. It pained me to see the suffering of other parents who desperately wanted and needed answers on how to make a happy life when you had a child born with a genetic disability. I wanted to try and take that pain away by giving our personal solutions to problems that others might face too. No two situations are exactly the same, but there are many similarities when you are faced with this diagnosis.
Cindi Rogers Writing this book was easy because I never have a problem talking about my two sons. It became apparent after many years of living with Fragile X Syndrome that my husband and I were not alone. I wanted to share what we had learned during our journey with other parents who were just beginning theirs.
