Kate Carridean My favorite fictional couple are Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert. As a child, I felt that I needed to escape my reality. Books gave me a portal to worlds where all things are possible. I started reading the Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith when I was a tween. My first crush was on Damon Salvatore. I guess that you could say that he's a bad example of a perfect man for young girls but I fell in love with his willingness to do anything to save and be with Elena. I still compare love interests (fictionally) to Damon. Long live Damon and Elena <3
Kate Carridean I have several different methods but my most effective is listening to music and screeching along with the lead vocalist.
Kate Carridean I love being transported to other universes. When I write, I'm in the world that I've created. I get to spend hours with people, or creatures, that are far more interesting than myself. My characters speak to me and I become attached to them as if we are old friends.
Kate Carridean Don't wait for the perfect time to start. It will never come. You will always have distractions. Don't be afraid to share what you've written with others. You can't make everybody happy and don't try to. Write what you enjoy and what you want to read. For me, the most difficult part is deciding which suggestions/criticism should I take and which ones should I forget. Ultimately, write for the love of telling a story.
Kate Carridean My works in progress are: Sisters of Avalon: Phantom Moons (Volume 2), Rhapsody in Flames (a paranormal romance), and a chick-lit comedy that currently doesn't have a name. My hope is that Sisters of Avalon: Phantom Moons will be available in mid-to-late summer of 2015.
Kate Carridean Finding time to write is difficult. Nonetheless, I turn everything off. Brew a cup of tea with cinnamon and cuddle with my dog, Miss Kity. She snoozes while I tap on the keyboard. I usually set a word count goal. Sometimes I reach it, more often I don't. I think making myself accountable helps me stay on track. Also, meeting with my writing buddy Trish Doller helps a great deal.
Kate Carridean I find inspiration everywhere I go, the people I meet, and from my own experiences. Sisters of Avalon: The Awakening is a culmination of several ideas that I've had bouncing around in my head since I was a teenager. I spent most of my teen years in Savannah, GA and it is such a mystical place overflowing with art. Of course, I was greatly influenced by my favorite authors.
