I've been very fortunate not to have suffered meeting this tormentor of writers everywhere - but probably only because I don't write fiction; with non-fiction the facts are ever before one, demanding explanation, so blocks don't seem to arise.

At the end of January 2015, I submitted to my BestRed editors the sister volume to Drinking with Ghosts (which roughly covers the period 1961-1994, but with much material bleeding over into 2014 because of the currency of the impact of the Dirty War). Under the Rusted Rainbow: Perdition and Promise in the New South Africa (BestRed, Cape Town, due September 2015) covers the period 1994-2015, and like the previous volume is a collection of back-stories on how I covered certain themes, but this one is about conditions of exclusion in under democracy, from poor whites to Bushmen, fascists to illegal coal miners, witches to land claimants, who collectively make up the majority of our people.
